Secretary-General

Chris Roman

Christopher Roman is a Senior at Michigan State University studying Public Policy/Public Administration, Public Relations, and International Development. He has participated in MUN both as an administrator and delegate in college. Chris has attended conferences across North America, including Washington D.C., Montreal, Chicago, and New York. He has staffed not only MSUMUN, but UNA-USA held at the United Nations in New York. Most recently Chris won a Best Delegate award at McMun 2010. he currently holds down a job at his local Express, which is where he spends most of his paycheck as well. He hopes to someday run a public relations consulting firm with his identical twin brother and some of his closest friends. secgen@msumun.org

Deputy Secretary-General

Angela M. Wharton is a senior in James Madison College at MSU, studying International Relations and Latin Angela WartonAmerican Studies. Angela has been an active staff member with MSUMUN, GLIMUN, and UNAUSAMUN, and is proud to be part of MSU’s competitive Model UN team (International Relations Organization). As DepSec, Angela’s main duty is to ensure that the conference does not fall apart, and to keep the rest of the Secretariat from having mental breakdowns. When not working on something related to Model UN or International Relations, Angela can be found watching the West Wing, or occasionally sleeping. depsec@msumun.org

USG of Committees

Matt SunderlinMatt Sunderlin is a Senior majoring in International Relations, though after eleven years in the business, it’s easy to forget that he isn’t actually majoring in Model UN. Matt’s involvement with MSUMUN goes almost all the way back, starting with time served as a delegate during Session IV in 2004. After retiring from the High School circuit in 2007, Matt moved on to chair the UN Security Council for two years before accepting the position of USG Committees. His tasks this year will include committee staff training, overseeing the development of committee rules and background materials, and perhaps even homework.committees@msumun.org

USG of Crisis

Sarah Lanczy is a Senior double majoring in International Relations and Russian.Hayes Brown As USG Crisis her job is to make sure Session XI’s crises are educational and fun. Without her the crises would be a crisis. She began her career in MSUMUN in 2008, secretly acting as a crisis delegate in the 1968 Democratic National Convention, and in 2009 went on to Chair the House Un-American Activities Committee. When not helping with MSUMUN she competes on the college circuit as a delegate with MSU’s International Relations Organization and is an active member of the MSU Russian Club. She is an avid believer that any crisis can be solved with diplomacy – or chocolate. crisis@msumun.org

USG of Finance

Joe HabibJoe Habib is a Junior at James Madison College in MSU studying Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. His main job is to make sure the business of MSUMUN goes smoothly. He has worked with Akouri and Associates PLLC out of Dearborn doing legal clerking. Joe tends to be court jester of the group. You can find Joe on campus arguing with fellow Spartans on just about anything from the economic capacity of the USSR to how District 9 would have turned out in real life. finance@msumun.org

USG of External Affairs

Lauren Jasinski is a senior at James Madison College at MSU majoring in Social Relations and Policy. Lauren JasinskiShe will also receive her teaching certification in Social Studies and hopes to teach high school History or Political Science. She has been a member of the MSUMUN staff throughout her college career and is very excited about her position on Secretariat. As the USG of External Affairs, her role is to communicate with advisers and delegates, be a liaison between our conference and the attending schools, and keep the rest of the Secretariat members calm. In her free time she likes to dance, play outside, and read. externalaffairs@msumun.org

USG of Technology and Operations

Jeff ItoJeff Ito is a senior majoring in Chemistry at MSU. As the USG of Technology and Operations his job is to; manage the technology of the conference, maintain the website, help with administrative duties, and train conference services staff. In academics he would call himself a student. In MSUMUN we would call himself USG of Technology and Operations. With nerds he would proudly call himself a PC. technology@msumun.org

USG of Logistics and Community Outreach

Dan Sommerville is an International Relations junior with a specialization in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy at MSU’s James Madison College.Dan SommervillleAs the USG of Logistics and Community Outreach, it is his job to plan the weekend of the conference, as well as serve as its representative to sponsors, businesses, and the community. In short, it is his job to make sure the conference actually happens. This is his second year on the MSUMUN staff. At MSUMUN X, he was an Assistant Chair for the Copenhagen Conference on Climate Change (COP-15). His other day job is an MSU Telemarketer, his night job is a delegate in the MSU International Relations Organization, and his alter-ego is an amateur t-shirt designer. Instead of sleeping, Dan enjoys exploring the world on Google Earth, reading the funnies, recycling, and watching The Office. logistics@msumun.org

Chief of Staff

Shaheen SheikhShaheen Sheikh is an International Relations Sophomore with a minor in Philosophy and Law at Michigan State University. As Chief of Staff, her job is to seek out students suitable to staff the conference, as well as to make sure they are kept in line. When not MUNing, or staying up late to do homework she pushed off to the last minute, she can frequently be found eating, listening to music, or hanging out with friends.
