This year’s Secretary-General, Gokul Anil, is a Model UN fanatic who has been doing Model UN since high school. Gokul, originally from Troy, Michigan, is a junior majoring in International Relations with a double major in Finance. Gokul participated in MSUMUN XIV as a delegate and loved it! This will be his third year with MSUMUN as a staff member. He served as an Assistant Crisis Director in MSUMUN XV, and as the Undersecretary-General (USG) of Finance for MSUMUN XVI. This year, Gokul is honored to serve as your Secretary-General for MSUMUN XVII. He strives to make MSUMUN XVII the best conference that MSUMUN has ever hosted. Outside of MUN, Gokul enjoys Spartan Athletics, cooking, and watching Netflix. He is very excited to continue MSUMUN’s tradition of excellence, and to gavel in its seventeenth session. Go Green!
Kate is a senior majoring in economics and social relations and policy. Previously, Kate was a page in MSUMUN XIV, Assistant Chair for SOCHUM in MSUMUN XV, and Chair for the NFL Owner’s Meeting in MSUMUN XVI. She is also involved with MSUMUN’s sister organization, IRO. This summer, she interned in Shanghai, indulged in too much Chinese food, and watched Game 7 of the NBA Finals at least eight times (Go Cavs!). When not doing MUN, she can found reading anything and everything about sports, trying new foods, idolizing Kanye West, and watching Amy Schumer comedy routines . She is thrilled to be serving as this session’s Deputy Secretary-General and cannot wait for delegates to experience another outstanding MSUMUN conference.
Chief of Staff
Madeleine Gorman is a senior in the Residential College of the Arts and Humanities as well as the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, working towards her dual degree in Humanities and Environmental Studies and Sustainability. Last year in MSUMUN and RCMUN, she was a Junior Staff member of the NFL Owners specialized committee. Madeleine is also involved in MSUMUN’s sister organization IRO, RCAH Ambassadors, an MSU research project studying the Flint Water Crisis, and works part time as a swimming instructor. Madeleine is thrilled to serve as Chief of Staff and to be working with such a wonderful staff this year at MSUMUN. Good luck delegates!
Undersecretary-General of Committees
Emily Weiner is the MSUMUN XVII Under-Secretary General of Committees. She is a senior majoring in Elementary Education, with a minor in Language Arts, and a specialization in International Education. This is her fourth year in MSUMUN; in the past, she has been a page, an Assistant Chair, and a Chair. Emily also has been a member of the MSU International Relations Organization, MSU’s competitive Model UN team, for the past four years, where she has served as the Vice President of Membership. In her free time, of which she has little, Emily enjoys binge watching “Friends” on Netflix. She is also an avid pun aficionado. Emily looks forward to seeing you all at State in the spring! Undersecretary-General of Crisis
Marie Siegel is a senior studying International Relations and German, and is so thrilled to be serving as the Under-Secretary General of Crisis in her final year at Michigan State University. In the past, Marie served as joint-crisis director for Under the Double Eagles, chair for the 1970s Cabinet to Salvador Allende, and junior crisis director for the World War II Ad-Hoc committee. Apart from her studies, she has interned at the US Department of State as well as for a senator in Bremen, Germany. She is very much looking forward to continuing her career after graduation with a focus on the international community. When not MUN-ing, Marie enjoys trying new recipes as well as training for her first ever half-marathon.
Secretary-General of Red Cedar Model United Nations
Felicity Davila is a senior at Michigan State University majoring in Political Science and English and minoring in Economics. Previously, Felicity has served as assistant chair to the Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee and Assistant Secretary-General of RCMUN; she also actively participates in MSUMUN’s sister organization IRO. During her free time, Felicity enjoys reading, writing, running, and playing video games. Felicity cannot wait to serve as your Secretary General this year at RCMUN.
Undersecretary-General of External Affairs
Hafsa is a senior at James Madison College, majoring in Social Relations and Policy. This is Hafsa’s third year as a staff member. Previously, she was an Assistant Chair on the Potsdam Conference Committee during MSUMUN XV, and served as USG of External Affairs during MSUMUN XVI. She also attended MSUMUN as a delegate in high school. Outside of MSUMUN, Hafsa enjoys taking road trips, exploring new places, and reading.
Undersecretary-General of Internal Affairs
Katie is a junior studying Comparative Cultures and Politics. This is Katie’s second year in the position of Internal Affairs and her third year as a MSUMUN staff member. She is also an active member of MSU’s Competitive Model UN team and serves as the Vice President of Technology and Operations. When not consumed in Model UN and school work, Katie spends her time working as a Resident Assistant, playing guitar, and watching Netflix. Katie is incredibly excited to serve on Secretariat again this year and hopes to make the conference more enjoyable for delegates, advisors, and staff.
Undersecretary-General of Community Outreach
Michael, originally from Holland, Michigan, is a Sophomore majoring in Political Science with minors in Spanish and Chicano/Latino Studies. Last year for MSUMUN XVI, Michael was an Assistant Chair for the Paris Peace Conference 1919 specialized committee. For MSUMUN XVII, Michael is very excited to be your Undersecretary-General (USG) of Community Outreach. As USG of Community Outreach, Michael is responsible for the fundraising and community involvement aspects of MSUMUN XVII. Aside from MSUMUN, Michael loves watching anything politics related, reading, and hanging out with friends. He is very excited to make MSUMUN XVI the best session yet!
Undersecretary-General of Finance
Thies is a sophomore majoring in International Relations and Comparative Cultures & Politics. His first experience with Model United Nations ever occur last year at Michigan State University, when he served as an Assistant Chair for Nixon’s Cabinet in MSUMUN XVI and competed in MSUIR), MSU’s competitive MUN team. Both experiences led to him wanting to be more involved in MUN, and he is elated to be the USG of Finance for MSUMUN XVII. When Thies is not working, you can see him running, listening to Swedish pop, and grabbing a second dinner in the multiple Michigan State cafeterias.
Undersecretary-General of Technology and Operations
Ayelet is a junior in James Madison College, majoring in International Relations with minors in Russian, Russian and Eurasian Studies, and Geographic Information Systems. This is her third year in MSUMUN. Previously, she served as a page in the JCC War Between the States and the Chair of the International Labour Organization, and, now, as the Undersecretary-General of Technology and Operations. Ayelet is also an active member of the International Relations Organization, Michigan State’s competitive Model United Nations team. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, exploring her adopted home state of Michigan, and cheering on the MSU men’s basketball team. Ayelet cannot wait to see what Session XVII has in store!
