My name is Katie Higgs, and I am a junior at Michigan State University, studying Comparative Cultures and Politics, and I will be the Undersecretary-General of Internal Affairs for the seventeenth session of Michigan State University Model United Nations. I am very excited for the opportunity to work with you and your delegates this year as the head of the outreach team for MSUMUN, which is here to support your delegation as you prepare for this year’s conference.
MSUMUN XVII will be held at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on the weekend of March 17th. We want your delegates to have the best possible experience while they are here, and we believe that our outreach program is the perfect way to achieve that goal. Our outreach teams are trained to provide tailored lesson plans that fit the needs of your students, as basic or advanced as needed, and they will travel to you! (Skype sessions are available for schools farther away.) The sessions that we provide can range from introducing basic rules of Parliamentary Procedure to facilitating simulations and practicing the same skills that the students will need to be successful at the conference. It is also a great opportunity to start meeting the incredible staff members that we have for MSUMUN XVII.
We will begin accepting requests for outreach on October 1st. If you wish to request an outreach session, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. In your request, please let us know how we can best help your team, as well as the desired dates for the session. We will be offering sessions until mid February. Also, if you have any further questions feel free to e-mail me any time at the address previously mentioned.
The outreach team that travels to your school will not only teach your delegation valuable skills for the upcoming conference, but we hope to instill in them a passion for Model UN, and a desire to challenge themselves and the world around them. As an organization, we pride ourselves on creating an environment where delegates can develop and strengthen their public speaking, problem solving, and leadership skills. We do this not only so that they will be successful delegates, but in hopes that they will continue to use these skills for the rest of their lives. I hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity, and please contact me with any questions you might have about our outreach program.
