Conference Tech Policy
MSUMUN Delegate Tech Policy
Delegates in the General Assembly and Specialized committees are allowed to use technology during unmoderated caucuses to draft working papers. The use of technology during formal debate, outside of committee, and during voting procedures is still prohibited. During the conference, any documents to which more than one delegate is collaborating or has access to are required to be shared with the dias, with no exceptions. Working on resolutions outside of committee sessions or deliberately restricting access to current committee documents to “kick-out” other delegates is strictly prohibited and may result in award disqualification.
Technology is prohibited for Crisis Committees
Generative AI Tech Policy
The use of generative AI is permitted for:
Brainstorming and refining your ideas for position papers;
Checking grammar and style.
The use of generative AI tools is not permitted for:
Writing entire sentences, paragraphs or papers in any of the following documents:
Position Papers
Directives and Directive Clauses
Draft Resolutions, Working Papers, and their clauses
Writing entire sentences or paragraphs of a delegate’s speech used in speaker’s lists or caucuses.
While USG of Technology recognizes the potential of AI as an effective tool for learning or change, delegates are also responsible for the integrity of the information they submit and use at MSUMUN. Similarly, technology can potentially disrupt yourself and others more than it contributes to a smooth committee experience. A delegate’s use of AI tools must be properly documented and cited in order to stay within our code of ethics and the spirit of Model United Nations. Any document that is found to have deliberately used generative AI tools in unauthorized ways will not be permitted and may lead to disqualification from awards subject to the discretion of the Dias and MSUMUN Secretariat.
